Capacity Building

MHP recognizes that community development corporations (CDCs) and non-profit housing developers need a stable operating base in order to increase affordable housing production. 

To support CDCs and non-profits MHP created a production capacity grant program, using Bank of America grant funds, in the spring of 2005.  A total of 41 organizations have been assisted in ways ranging from one-time grants for staff training to multi-year grants to support increased affordable housing production. 

Grants were distributed across the state to both large and small organizations.   Multi-year grants are linked to each grantee's individualized production benchmarks, which are reported on every six months.  This grant program will wrap up in the summer of 2008.
